Memphis Wrestling Stars of '84 Babyface™ 19" x 19" Mask (Artwork by Jerry Lawler, Red or Blue)
You no longer have to live in constant fear of the Coronavirus—not when you can face the threat backed by the King and some of the top wrestling stars of the '80s—what a ruuuushhhh!
First, the backstory on the artwork: When the WWF invaded Memphis's backyard in June 1984, promoter Jerry Jarrett put together a super card that rivaled Jim Crockett's Starrcade cards. In fact, Jarrett originally called this event Starrcade '84 and then Star Wars '84 before settling on Star War '84, perhaps leery of George Lucas's notion to sue for copyright infringement faster than light speed.
Jerry Lawler illustrated a special design to commemorate the event—a black-and-white ringer tee (which I owned for years) featuring the King front and center along with the Road Warriors, Handsome Jimmy, Austin Idol, the Rock 'n' Roll Express and the new and original Fabs—mercy, daddy!
That same brilliant royal artwork is now featured on soon-to-be-nationally mandated face masks to help contain the COVID-19 virus—here at Memphis Wrestling Tees that makes them Babyface™ (Good Guy) Masks. And yes, Stephen P New (no relation to P.N. News), I already have the term in this reference trademarked....so there,
I suppose if you have to wear a mask a la Mil Mascaras (much like the mysterious man's appearance on 1.29.79) for the next month(s) or so, why not have one that at the very least that helps you smile a bit as you reach to put it on—after all, I believe it is safe to assume that every true Memphis fan has gotten a kick out of the King's artwork over the years.
TALE OF THE TAPE:
This All-Over Print Neck Gaiter can be used as a face shield, headband, bandana, wristband, balaclava, and neck warmer. Nah, they will—and when they do, you can still use your bad-ass Memphis wrestling mask for a variety of everyday fun stuff.
